Title I

Evergreen is a Title I school. This means we receive federal funding based on the percentage of students who qualify for free or reduced lunch. We use this funding to increase academic growth and proficiency for all students, especially those at risk of not passing their grade. Funding is used for Academic Support staff, professional development, and supporting students experiencing homelessness.

As a parent of a student in a Title I school, it is your right within federal law to access the professional qualifications of the classroom teachers or paraprofessionals who instruct your child. Please contact the executive director in writing to request this information, which will be provided within one week of receiving your request. This right along with other parental rights and responsibilities are outlined in our Parent Partnership Agreement, linked below.

Evergreen’s tutoring program provides additional instruction to students at risk of not meeting grade-level standards. Tutors typically work with students for 30 minutes, twice a week (in-class or in small groups outside of class).

Homework Assistance

Should your child struggle to complete their homework, try asking them the following questions:

  • What do the directions say?

  • What words or directions don’t you understand?

  • Where do you think you should begin?

  • What do you already know that can help you work through the problem?

  • Show me what you’ve done so far.

  • Where can we find help in your textbook or notes?

  • Are there similar problems to look at?

  • Let’s try drawing a picture or making a diagram.

  • What did the teacher ask you to do?

If your child is still having trouble, talk to their teacher or Academic Support Teacher. Evergreen teachers can explain or modify homework, and are here to support your child academically.
