Misty McDonough
she/her/hers
Misty has been teaching at Evergreen since 2006. She began her teaching career at a Waldorf School in Alabama and received her Master's Degree in Early Childhood/Elementary Ed before moving to Asheville. She achieved National Board Certification in 2020 and completed an AIG licensure program through Western Carolina University in 2017. She also wears a "parent hat," with a daughter who is an Evergreen middle schooler this year! She loves to get kids excited about math and science, in addition to strengthening literacy skills and helping to instill a love of stories. Misty was initially drawn to Evergreen because of the focus on Environmental Education and the holistic learning environment, and she has deep appreciation for the more recent work to include social justice into the school culture. When she has free time she likes to spend it outdoors, preferably in or near water! Gardening, bird watching, and travel are her favorite hobbies.
